The upcoming seventh season of CBS’s hit procedural drama FBI is set to introduce some exciting changes to its cast lineup. Lisette Olivera, known for her role in National Treasure: Edge of History, is joining the series as a new regular. Olivera will portray Syd, a skilled agent from the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) who is stepping into the field for the first time.

As the new season welcomes Olivera, it also bids farewell to a beloved character. Katherine Renee Kane, who has been a staple on the show since its third season, will be exiting FBI after appearing in at least one episode of Season 7. The news of Olivera’s arrival and Kane’s departure was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

Lisette Olivera gained recognition for her role as Jess Valenzuela in the Disney+ spinoff series National Treasure: Edge of History. Her performance as a young DACA resident who becomes an international treasure protector made her the first actor outside of Nicolas Cage to lead a National Treasure project. Despite a strong cast and direction by Mira Nair, the series was canceled after one season.

Kane, who joined FBI in 2020 as Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, has been a central figure in the series. While the reasons for her departure remain unclear, it is likely that Olivera’s character, Syd, will step in as the new partner to John Boyd’s Special Agent Scola. This marks the second time Scola’s partner has been replaced, following Wallace’s earlier replacement of Kristen Chazal (played by Ebonée Noel) in Season 3.

Olivera will join the core cast of FBI, including John Boyd, Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Jeremy Sisto, and Alana de la Garza. The show also features recurring appearances by actors such as James Chen, Shantel VanSanten, Carmen Lamar Gonzalez, and Antwayn Hopper.

FBI continues to enjoy immense popularity, with CBS renewing the series for three additional seasons during its sixth season’s run. This renewal ensures the show will air through at least Season 9, showcasing the network’s confidence in the series.

Produced by Dick Wolf, FBI has expanded into a successful franchise, similar to Wolf’s Law & Order. The franchise includes FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, which recently participated in a major crossover event centered around an international kidnapping plot that threatened New York City.

Season 7 of FBI is set to premiere on CBS on October 15. Fans can expect thrilling new storylines and the introduction of fresh dynamics with Olivera’s character stepping into the team.
